A year and a half after launch, the MeLE QuieterDL fanless mini PC is getting a modest processor spec bump… and a big price increase. More than a decade after entering the global smartphone market, OnePlus is pulling back. And at a time when most consumer electronics are seeing RAM & storage-related price hikes, Xteink has made a bit of a splash with its cheap, small, and honestly barely functional eBook readers that are made more useful with third-party firmware.
But just because buyers are attracted to the dirt cheap models doesn’t mean there’s not room for improvement, so it’s interesting to see reports that the company could be preparing to launch models with some of the features we often find on bigger, pricier models. At least two new models are rumored: an Xteink X4 v2 that has the same 4.3 inch screen as the original, but a larger battery, and a Xteink X4 Pro that brings more upgrades.

The MeLE QuieterDL is a small, fanless PC with dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports and support for three displays. When it launched in 2024 it had an Intel N100 chip and $160 starting price. Now it comes with Intel N150 and starts at $310 thanks to RAMageddon, probably. amzn.to/4vK47SU (Affiliate link)

Yep because they are smart since that is the exact same chip the new Steam Frame is using. And now that Steam OS for ARM just got released
means it will be very easy to port it to their handhelds using this chip like the Pocket 2, as was done with Postmarket Linux. So they will be one of first third party hardware to get Steam OS with the integrated Proton/Fex/Waydroid running on them since the drivers for that particular GPU was fully open sourced by Valve and already mainlined
Expect some news in the upcoming weeks.
When it comes to ARM, you can never count on custom OS support, until you see that everything is already working. If they want to actually ship it with steamOS that’d be one thing, but they won’t even do that on their x86 handhelds.
Which is probably why that comment was probably more about the processor being overkill for the games you can play with just the built in controls.
